BUTLER'S LONG WAIT AT ATLANTIC CITY IS OVER..

Atlantic City, New Jersey, January 29th, 2011:

The Butler Family Racing Team have been perennial front runners at Boardwalk Hall with Bobby and Mike at some point in their careers been leading the Slingshot event at AC only to become a DNF.

When looking at the early entries for the Herr's Snack Bowl 25,the name Mike Butler was one of the first names on the entry list and the familiar # 4 was beside his name. Brother Bobby was manning the Emmons # 997 and his other brother Clay had the controls of the Emmons team car # 7.

The new time trial format used with success at a few locals speedways was now being used by Sammons Motorsports Productions for the AC Indoor Classic. This system locked the top 15 into the A Main with no other qualifying efforts needed and the remaining drivers having to run a Last Chance and B Main to make the starting grid.

A stellar field of 37 Slingshots took time with the newly built # 47 of 2010 Herr's Snack Bowl winner, Kyle Hieber of Langhorne, PA setting the standard with a time of 10.2357 to be in charge of selecting the number of drivers needed to redraw for the feature starting spots.

The B Main qualifiers were set for Friday night and the 1st qualifier went off without any incidents as Brad Arnold led the field to the checker with Bobby Butler closing fast as the laps wound down. The second "B" Main saw "yellow fever" strike as this group seemed a little less patient and with each passing lap it was becoming apparent that you weren't guaranteed the qualifying spot until you saw the checkered. Jim Housworth put the Bob Gibb 31 into the main with 2010 National Champion Shannon Smith settling in for 2nd.

The Last Chance Qualifier format was altered prior to the green as all other non-qualifiers were given the chance to make the show through this event. Coming from 7th to take the win was the #77 of Rick Laubach in the other Gibbs' entry. The field was set with Michael Glass and Matt Dealaman using 2010 National points provisional's to make the show.

By virtue of the luck of the redraw it was "Kadillac" Kurt Bettler piloting the Scott Miller 66 with talented Brandon Azzalina in the 17G in charge of the outside row.

At the drop of the green Azzalina held his line heading into turn 1,but a yellow slowed down the field for a retry. Azzalina got a great run and was the new race leader as the field was settling in for a few laps until the 8 of Jeff Hartman got squeezed against the turn 4 barrier bringing out the yellow.

The restart found Azzalina getting a strong challenge from Bettler with the 66 back in the hunt as the pair entered turn 4 Azzalina ended up bringing out the yellow ending a great run for the Saylorsburg, PA lad.

Some new faces were now entering the mix with Mike Butler, Gary Hieber and 2007 National Champion Nick Pecko all now giving the fans a show with each passing lap as Bettler was trying every trick in the book to keep the top spot.

Butler used an outside in move off of turn 2 to claim the top spot and now the race was on for the remaining 13 laps to get a 2011 Herr's Snack Bowl Champion.

The yellow on lap 14 would set the tone for the remainder of the race as a 9 car incident heading into turn 3 would eliminate many of the front runners and see some of the midpack runners get new life in their quest for a top finish. Anthony Perrego the NYE winner at Ft. Wayne made a strong bid in turn 4 to become the new leader, but 1 lap later his # 1 was pit bound with a right front flat ending his chances at the big money offered by Sammons Motorsports Productions and Herr's Snack Food sponsorship.

21st place starter 2010 STR Champion Mario Page used some of his big car experience and a little rubbing is racing mentality to now become the 4th place car and after some contact with Shannon Smith made the top 3 with a handful of laps to go.

Mike Butler was only hoping his past was definitely behind him as his red # 4 hit all the marks and he made sure he kept off the turn barriers, but closing behind him was Tiffany Wambold in the Moyer # 29 and she was clearing closing in on Butler.

Smith decided to repay Page for his progress into the top 3 and she got a strong run heading off of turn 2 and held her line into turn 3 with some side rail contact to become the new third place runner.

At the 2 to go Gary Hieber who was making a strong bid from his lap 14 trip to the rear of the field passed both Michael Glass who rebounded from a trip to the pits and Matt Dealaman and needed some time to put pressure on a strong running Jim Housworth but with only 22 seconds of racing left, it was apparent that the race was going to end with no more position changes as a fist clenching was seen in the #4 as Mike Butler finally scratched his 7 year itch and became an Atlantic City Herr's Snack Bowl 25 winner.

His Gambler's Entry would now increase his winner's total from $500 to $1500 making his other 6 years of frustration a little less painful. Mike had 2 people he really needed to thank in victory lane, those being his father Clay and his grandfather Oliver.

Getting her best Atlantic City finish ever was Tiffany Wambold with a 2nd place run and Shannon Smith in the hot pink 23 finishing 3rd, both giving the fans a chuckle with their post race interviews.

Special thanks go out to Len Sammons Motorsports Productions for giving the Slingshots a great crowd to watch the events and to all race teams that ventured to AC in some very nasty weather conditions. Thanks to Herr's Snack Foods for their product donations to feed the masses and their sponsorship of this illustrious event.

SPEEDWAY ENTERTAINMENT HONORS 2010 CHAMPIONS

For 7 years, Milford, NJ's, Mike Butler has entered the AC Indoor Classic with hopes of sitting in victory lane, but the saying if it wasn't for bad luck, he'd have no luck at all always followed Mike and his Oliver Butler look alike # 4 to Atlantic City.

Myerstown PA, January 10th, 2011:  The 2010 Speedway Entertainment Awards Banquet held at the AACA Museum in Hershey went off on Friday night with over 200 people awaiting to see the honoring of all champions and special award winners.

Door prizes and a special Champions Charity Auction all became a priority for the guests as some very useable, collectible and novelty items were available if you had the winning ticket.

Rich Tobias presented all tour racers with a nice trophy and over $16,000 in point fund money. The SpeedSTR's were the first class honored and Mario Page of Hillsborough, NJ hit the trifecta in winning the Home track, Northeast and National championships. His Izzi Trucking # 10 team also took the owners award.

The Slingshots were now in the spotlight and with all 11 All Star Championship drivers in attendance, the awards ceremony arranged by Barry Angstadt went off with plenty of fanfare which made each driver attract the attention they deserved for their accomplishments. All track champions were also honored with track specialty classes such as a Pee-Wee, Super and Rookie Class also getting awards.

The 2010 All Star National Elite 11 went down to a feature win tiebreaker which saw Shannon Smith claim her first ever National Championship over 2009 National Champion, Cody Kline. The S&S Speedways / Hamlin Speedway hot pink # 23 carried the Kunkletown, PA college student to the deciding win at the Nostalgia National at the new Reading Fairgrounds in August. Little did anyone know that this would be the deciding factor.

Cody Kline was still a very active banquet participant as he claimed the MA Silver and Speedweeks championships. Matt Dealaman claimed the 2010 MA Gold title with Katonah, NY's Charlie Lawrence in attendance to receive his Empire Region point fund and trophy. Sunshine Region ,Dirt Devils Speedway and Sumter Co. Speedway Champion Jason Ford made the trip from Lehigh Acres, FL to be a part of the festivities. Jeremy Paulson, the Great Lakes Region champion was shuttered by the recent weather in MN and could not attend.

Not to be left out were the future of racing, the Junior Slingshot group and Wallkill, NY's Tyler Dippel accepted all the accolades and awards in his role as the 2010 Junior National Champion. Along with the nice champions trophy presented by Rich Tobias was the point fund money totaling $400.

The Slingshot Driver of the Year Award is always a much anticipated and honored award. The 2010 Driver of the Year for the All Stars saw 2 drivers receive this award as Shannon Smith and Kyle Hieber were deadlocked in the award voting by press members ,track operators and Speedway Entertainment officials. The Junior Driver of the Year Award went to 2010 Hamlin Speedway Junior Champion and 23 time winner, Montague, NJ's Danny Buccafusca.

After the awards ceremonies were completed it was time to show some respect to the attending track operators in allowing them each to give the banquet guests a chance to give their track plans for 2011 and mention any changes in their race procedures or payouts. Andy Smith from Hamlin Speedway, Brenda Cordier from Shellhammers, Steve Heckman representing Borgers Speedway, Rich Raidline from West End National and Mark Clauss on behalf of the Sunshine Region all gave some in depth plans for what to expect at these tracks in 2011.Rich Tobias concluded the serious part of the festivities with his State of the Series talk and also thanking everyone for believing in what the Slingshots and SpeedSTR Series' means to the racers of all ages as well as his own insight in honoring all Speedway Entertainment participants and award winners.

Special Awards, Media Awards and a BBQ style meal supplied by Hresko's BBQ in Lebanon all led to the music provided by PJKNAP Productions for the dancing and entertainment part of the banquet.

The AACA Museum allowed all guests to venture through the museum looking at automobiles from all ages as well as some specialty cars from the late 1800's to the present time. A good time was had by all looking to the 2011 racing season which already started at Fort Wayne with Brett Bieber winning the 1st race of the new year.

Atlantic City Racers- Please Note

The races in Atlantic City are just around the corner and we want to keep everyone update leading up the event.  As always feel free to contact us with questions or concerns at danny@aarn.com or lhs@aarn.com.

In the next week you will be receiving an information package in the mailing containing updated event information, rules, schedules, your inspection form and announcers form.  Please fill out the announcers form and the general information part of the inspection form and bring them with you to Atlantic City.  Having these filled out in advance will help make the inspection process go smoother on the day of the event.

In advance of that information, I wanted to drop you an email with somethings you should be prepared for ahead of time.

If you have not already made your room reservation, you should do so immediately. Our room block at the host hotel, the Hilton, was sold-out recently but they graciously added to the special rate block. You can give it a try at 1-800-257-8677 or go to aarn.com and follow the instructions to the indoor race rooms special rate and do so on line.

Below we printed you out the tentative weekend schedule.

Remember, we have again added paid practice on Thursday night. Your pit pass for the weekend is good on Thursday. The only extra charge is $50 per car.

When you arrive at Boardwalk Hall you must not have any fuel inside your trailer or in the fuel tank of you racecar. The fuel tank will be checked during inspection and any car found with fuel must have it drained before it can pass inspection. You then must hope the fuel man on the dock will hold your fuel since you cannot put it back in your trailer. It's so much easier to just do it right the first time.

Please also note that it is a NJ state law that any fuel tank that is larger than five gallons must have a bladder.

Make sure your seat belts are properly dated. They will be checked. Belts are only good two years after manufactures date that is printed on them.

When you bring your car to the inspection area, make sure you bring all of your drivers racing gear as well.

Before leaving make sure your driver has sufficient room between the top of his helmet and the roll cage. Many drivers are racing cars for the first time and in the past we've had drivers with their heads hitting the roll bars. This will not be accepted. If you don't have proper clearance, please add a halo bar above the roll cage. You've seen these before in TQs racing in Atlantic City.

Most importantly we need everyone to pray for good weather and no snow. While it might have been fun last year on the boardwalk after the races, we don't need to experience it again.

Here is the tentative schedule for Atlantic City . . .

ENGINE REMINDERS, MUFFLER ANSWERS,
SPECIAL THANKS "LAPS FOR LITERACY" CAMPAIGN

THE TIME WILL COME..... 3 CHOICES OF NEW SLINGSHOT HATS HAVE ARRIVED

(Issue 23 / 03.11.10 )

Myerstown, PA - March 11th, 2010 (Issue 23):  In this day and age when everyone wants to find a gray area in the rules and thinks they can build a better mousetrap, it will soon come time when a ZERO Tolerance will be levied on all teching. If it's close to legal, but not legal it will not pass tech. If the only way you can win is to cheat, I pity you if you are cheating and can't win. Maybe you better hire another driver. The crackdown has begun. Rich will be hosting a few tech officials in what to look for, what should be teched and general items such as Durometer checks and engine teching. The new mufflers will be getting stamped or possibly laser engraved in the future.

We will be checking tire stamping and quite possibly be getting a few new tire stamps to mix up the orders occasionally. Tire pressures can be checked using the gauge that will be used that night. Check your tires with the officials gauge for accuracy. Everyone will be checked using the same gauge. Weight will remain at 760,not 759. The best way to remedy a car close to weight is have it scaled before you race, everyone will be crossing the same scale, so it is fair for everyone.

We appreciate everyone that takes the time to maintain and race a Slingshot, we respect your driving abilities and your loyalty to a speedway or the tours, but we want everyone that races to be on the same playing field.

We do have the right to confiscate parts, engines and even cars if need be. Read the Rule Book. If you don't have one. I'll email a copy to you, so you do have one.

I could get nasty and make public everyone caught cheating during the season and what the infraction was, but I'm hoping it doesn't get to that. Be safe, be ready the good weather has to be here soon. There are a couple of events that could be of interest to a lot of you, that are still being worked out. In an effort to get the engines rebuilt or checked in a timely manner, Rich is doing the engines here for seal checks or minor work and Ron is doing the rebuilds and over bores. NJMP is trying to get the driver age lowered for the August 14 / 15 events. Scott Paape is talking with the State Police regarding driver protection compared to a 8 year old karter.

Here are the 3 choices for hats. The red and black adjustable. I ordered 36 of them The off blue Flexfit 2 sizes S-M and L-XL There are 12 of each The visors have no back printing. I ordered 12 of those. The back of the red and black looks like the back of the blue one and the blue one has the front like the red and black one. Any of the 3 are $15 each + shipping. Checks must be made to me or CC will be run through PayPal.

Issue 13 / 02.17.10

Myerstown, PA - Feb 18th, 2010 (Issue 13):  I WILL BE HERE this Saturday. I'm planning on a 9 AM to 1 PM day. I can stay a little longer if  your travel plans get messed up, but need to be on my way by 2:15 at the latest. Please call if you will be delayed. You can pickup engines, parts, drop engines off for work (remember there needs to be at least a $200 deposit) and I also will try to have all the Owners Packets done. If you are heading this way and can pick up one or 2 for some owners nearby, it will be a great help.

The 9.50 tires are finally being shipped to the suppliers so we will most likely not be seeing any until next Tues at the earliest.

Remember slicks can be used on any racing surface now, if someone would like to give that a try. We have some rear slicks in stock as well as the 18 X 8.50 Saw tooth tires. The red clutch spring and shock cover special is over. Many teams took advantage of the holiday offer.

Please when sending your engine here by UPS, Fed-EX or USPS, please have a note what you want done and please try to clean your engine before shipping. If we must pressure wash it just to disassemble it there is a washing fee of 30.00. and it does take about 30 minutes of time to do. Adding 30 minutes up for every cleaning sets back the work on your engine that much longer. The stripping down of the engine will save you money. On a recent check I did a short block at 67 lbs. was shipped out for 31.00.A 96 lb. complete engine is roughly anywhere from $39 to $58.

A few answers about the new mufflers. The new mufflers are available. They are 168.00 each. The testing had them very equal to the old style with a .0032% boost in power, so that will keep both muffler uses equal. The old style are discontinued due to the elimination of the muffler used with the collector. Currently there is no maximum use time for these. If they last you until 2015, still will be legal as of 2010 Rule Book.

On behalf of the Twin Valley School District and the Laps for Literacy Campaign created by Kaitie McCardle over $ 800 was presented to the school board. The money will be used for an after school tutoring program for students of all ages. Kaitie and her brother Joe will be visiting numerous classes to share their ideas on why reading is so important and how reading can be fun and educational at the same time.

The McCardle Racing Team will continue the LFL in 2010 with special decals printed for all teams interested in helping keep this project alive. The goal for 2010 is $1000 and both Kaitie and Joe will be giving back to the LFL with a percentage of their race winnings set aside until next year's presentation. Donations will be accepted throughout the year and 100% of the sale of the decals will also be added to the total.

Kaitie will be out to lay claim as a contender for the coveted 2010 SpeedSTR Championship with Joe taking over the seat of the potent Slingshot vacated by Kaitie's move. Anyone interested can get in touch with me here or The McCardle's at kart1112@aol.com. As an added donation, I personally will add $1.00 for every win the leading winner with a visible 2010 LFL decal has on after the Linda Lebanon Valley 100.

ENGINE DEPOSIT QUESTIONS, BILSTEIN SHOCK UPDATE, (CLUTCH SPRING & SHOCK COVER SPECIAL ENDS TONIGHT), SATURDAY HOURS?, WALKILL SLINGSHOT UPDATE, LEBANON RACE SHOW, TALK OF A NEW TRACK IN THE PHOENIXVILLE AREA

Issue 12 / 02.16.10

Myerstown, PA - Feb 16th, 2010 (Issue 12):  For everyone needing engine work a deposit of at least $200 is needed. There currently is no $50 parts rebate special. That was part of the holiday racers special. There will one later in the season and the $50 rebate must be used on a later purchase, not in conjunction with the parts needed for the engine work. I will be contacting Bilstein Shocks in the upcoming week to get a lowdown on the progress of the new shocks. I will let everyone know the news as I get it.

Since many of you do not get your emails until you get home from school or work. I will allow any email orders for the clutch spring and shock covers special made tonight to be valid. Just a reminder red clutch springs (normally 3.24 ea) are $2.50 each, limit of 12.The shock covers (normally 24.99 / pr.) on sale for 22.00/ pr with the red covers being 20.00.These prices are in effect for any email order through tonight.

I was asked by a few people if I could be here on Sat. for a few hours. If enough people are planning on stopping in I will gladly do that for you. I need to know before committing to 3 or 4 hours and it being weather dependant. The machine shop is back in operation after the recent snow storms, so the engine rebuilds will be getting back on schedule.

A note from Walkill Slingshot Club. The track will be enlarged and they are asking anyone that wants early pre-season test and tunes to notify them for rental times and costs.

Dan Culhane is not only looking for local race teams to display their 2010 rides but all outsiders are welcome to participate in this years Lebanon Race Fest. The fan base for the Lebanon show has been increasing yearly and this trend looks to continue for the March show. Great way of getting your sponsors some recognition in an area they are not normally seen in.

Talk of a Slingshot size track in the Phoenixville, PA area have really spread. No real plans have been drawn up. They are looking at the pros and cons with no small car racing track within that area if teams will show up in what ever classes they would decide to run.

OWNERS PACKET ***PLEASE READ*** RULE ANSWERS TO SOME QUESTIONS, REGISTRATION & YOUR CAR #, ENGINE PICKUP LIST, READING FAIRGROUNDS UPDATE, FLORIDA UPD ATE, GET YOUR TEAM MERCHANDISE...

 Issue 10 / 02.09.10

Myerstown, PA - Feb 9th, 2010 (Issue 10):  Please stop emailing me about the owner's packets. I have gotten 47 emails asking for the owner's packets. The owners cards were misprinted and I'm awaiting the replacements.

I realize some of you are working on your car graphics. Here is a quick answer .Please leave part of your right side door open for contingency decals. Whether it be the top front on the lower bottom, there are 6 decals to be placed on the car. Due to the size of the K&N decal (6 X 8) it could be placed on the inside door panel that would face the fans.

For everyone looking into the gray areas of the rule book, here are a few answers to some questions. Tires cannot be re-grooved, siped or treated. They can be buffed and sanded. The Durometer readings are based on the majority getting teched. If there are 23 drivers with a reading of 60 and yours is 53, you will be asked to change it or be DQ'd. SE clutch springs can be mixed or matched. You can run a full set of red or white or mix them.

Air filters must either be the KNRD-0720 or an exact cross reference. No big bowl or angled ones will be allowed. No liquid ballast other than the fuel in your fuel cell. No filling front axles. The ST74 18.5 X 8.5 Saw-tooth tire IS...I repeat IS LEGAL. Check with your speedway to see if it is legal for the track, but it is legal for the Slingshots in 2010. There is a definite weight difference of 4 pounds, these weigh 13 pounds compared to 9 for a regular 9.50.

It has been a rule since Day 1 that only 1 number allowed per state. Letters can be added in front or behind a number if you want it bad enough and someone else already has it. Taking over numbers for 2010 due to the registration deadline passing are Louden Reimert taking the 58, Rob Kibler getting the 18 and Justin Thompson using 22.

Engines currently awaiting pickup belong to Dealaman, Brink (2) and 1 Hoffmaster engine. 2005 bodies are legal through the end of 2010, 2008's are good through the end of the 2013 season.

I will be contacting the Reading Fairgrounds group to get a head start on the Nostalgia Nationals. Speedweeks payout has grown but it is now being cut down to the Top 5 instead of the Top 10. It is 325 to win, up from 200 with 5th getting 100. Regional payouts will revert back to the top 3 for 2010. The Elite 11 for the All-Stars and the Great 8 Junior National payouts will remain the same.

I will try to give everyone the results from Florida as I get them. We wish everyone running this weekend and next weekend all the best. Time will tell if we have 6 different winners and who the early season National point leaders will be.

Now is the time to get your team merchandise ordered. Take some time and visit Weikel Sportswear, Bob Hilbert Racewear, Legends Graphics, Mystic Screen Printing, Fast Tees and many more.

The Speedway Entertainment hauler will be heading to Florida Slingerweeks II Tues afternoon at 4 PM. The S&S Speedways hauler is also heading south to help with parts sales for the many teams heading to the Sunshine State. Mark Clauss at Florida Slingshots has a room offer at the Wildwood Sleep Inn for 50.00 a night. The rooms were very nice, the food selection for breakfast was more than enough and the only drawback is the early hours closing for many of the eating establishments in that area. The Sports Bar up the road was very good, but closed before 11 PM.

The upcoming indoor racing shows will be here shortly, please make sure you are registered and ready to go for the various ones in this area. A special thank you to Herr's for their sponsorship of the AC Indoor Classic.

Here is the explanation for the red seal rule. The red seals were started in June 2008.The understanding that the lack of engine work done here longer than 2 years could have varying results, so we want to make sure that everyone is within the legal boundaries with all engines. Side covers must be taken off for inspection and a quick check of the heads will be done. This cannot be done while you wait. You have until August 15th to have red seals.

The 2010 Owners Cards have been missing from the owners packets. They will be picked up and inserted into the new owners packets that were just received from this weekend's mailings. The others will be shipped with the Inspection stickers or I will have them along at some of the early races. 2010 Rule Books can be sent online like I did for the Parts Price Sheets. If you want your Rule Book sent as an attachment please let me know.

The Florida Winter National and Slingerweeks II dates are quickly approaching. Rich still has room in the SE hauler for car transportation. He is planning on leaving Feb 9th and will be heading back immediately after the Feb 21st event at Sumter Co.$175 for transportation. Randy Smith will also be heading down and will have parts to help with Florida Slingshots dealer, Mark Clauss. Randy might have a rental left for some of these races, give him a call at S&S Speedways, if interested. Both weekends will find Super National points for each of the Saturday events.

The $80 registration, where does it go??? Some of it is absorbed in the point funds, some of it is part of my yearly salary to make sure that all the points are up to date, that you receive the group emails, that the weekly track winners get some recognition, that the website stays up to date, that race teams get some publicity on the website or in the racing papers, some of it heads back to race sponsorships at various tracks, some of it is used to make sure that everyone runs under the same rules and abides by them. I can go on and on. Think of what you would be paying a media rep. to get some of the exposure that we give many teams here. I try to include everyone sometime during the year. There are a few people that feel the money isn't used properly. Tell that to your senator or governor, you pay for personal vehicle registrations every year and you have no clue where that money goes, so now I'm telling you where the Slingshot money goes. I hope this clears some thoughts up.

2/1/2010

Here is something to think about for some of the National Points Elite 11   hopefuls. The East Bay Winter National and now the Sumter Co Slingerweeks II   weekends will both contain Super National points status races. The Feb 13th   show at East Bay and the Feb 20th A Main at Sumter County will have at   least 800 to win thus having Rich Tobias give the added points for each of   these races. With 30 cars entered 150 points will be given to the winner of each Super   National with 30th earning 60 points instead of 120 and 30.The deduction   for 2 points per car under 30 entered will be used.

The AC Indoor Classic's Herr's Snack Bowl 25 was a success and from a few   responses heard from the fans filtering out
on Saturday night, the Slingshots were the most exciting, had the most passing and looked like race cars than many local fans drive each weekend to see and it made them forget about  the 7  inches of snow outside. The 3 and 4 wide racing during the Friday qualifiers rank up there with   some of the best racing ever by the Slingshots, no matter what track. The Herr's Snack Bowl 25 banner made a great backdrop for winner  Kyle  Hieber.Congrats go to the Bucks County International Team for it's strong   showing. Thanks for all teams that ventured to the Garden State.

Due to many people asking about the office being closed for 2 Fridays and   the possibility of not getting 2010 registrations,I will extend the $80.00   offer until the 8th, but the number choice for this season is now closed and everyone with their registration and number in will be the only one in that state to have the number selected.

Kyle Ebersole ,former Slingshot champion at Linda's, was a great guest on   BCTV's Strapped In show last Weds. If
anyone wants to check it out it can be seen at _www.bctv.org_ (http://www.bctv.org/)  on the Archived Show link  and  then click Strapped In.Rich Tobias was a guest on the Racers Roundtable  radio  show Sunday night and his outlook for 2010 is promising.I will be heading  up the highway to be a studio guest in a few weeks, but I first must  watch  the Colts win the Super Bowl this Sunday.

I will be starting to send the driver rosters to the website.

Myerstown, PA - Jan. 21st, 2010 (Issue 4):  The Pit Stop Challenge races for 2010 will have qualifiers at all 5 tracks during the 2010 season. Walkill, Hamlin, Linda's, Caroga Creek and New Jersey Motorsports Park all will have Pit Stop Challenge Races for the other events as well as the PSC at their track. The Lebanon Valley 100 at Linda's on Sept. 25 is the Super National and will be a Pit Stop Challenge event.

The 2 day event at NJMP will see the Slingshots on the tri-oval on Sat Aug 14th.The top 4 in the tri-oval finish will be locked into the top 4 for the road course race the next day. We are looking to be done in time for everyone to get a chance to watch the ARCA race there later that afternoon. The top 2 from each qualifier will be locked in for the PSC race at that designated track. This will lock the top spots in for every race on the schedule. For anyone that attends the track alone, we will definitely find someone that will work as your crew member for these special races.

Since the proposed 33% JR .Nat point system was sent to everyone, there were over 40 responses that approved of the idea. For anyone that has missed this it will be 33% of your weekly track finish points, 33% of the JR. National tour races at the weekly tracks and 33% of the 2 Neutral Track Races  will make up the Junior National Champion for 2010. The neutral track races are at DunnHill2 Speedway on July 11th and the Reading Fairgrounds on August 2nd. For the travelers you will pickup your points at the tour races and neutral track events, for the weekly track points racers, your points will come from the home track and the 2 neutral track races. I have reworked different scenarios countless times and it is the closest and fairest way of crowning a Junior Champion. Car counts are also in the equation.

The Herr's Snack Bowl 25 at AC will start loading trailers into the hall from 5 to 9 on Thurs Jan 28th.

ATLANTIC CITY , FLORIDA WINTER NATIONALS & SLINGERWEEKS 2, EAST BAY & SUMTER CO.,

2010 INSPECTION FORM, NJMP, HAMLIN RULES MEETING, LINDA'S SPEEDWAY, READING RACE REUNION

(Issue 3 / 01.19.10 )

Myerstown, PA - Jan. 19th, 2010 (Issue 3):  After a quick discussion with Danny Sammons, they WILL NOT lower the starting field for the Herr's Snack Bowl 25.If there are more entries until the end of the day tomorrow, it will mean some teams will DNQ, but currently all entries are in the field. That does not mean with 1 lap to go and you are 4th you take the first 3 cars out for the win. It will not happen. He was worried about the 4 car finish last year. I had mentioned that in '08 we had 14 cars finish and in '07 there were 17 that finished. I am very happy with his decision, now it is up to YOU the drivers to make this work. Officials, crew members, fans and sponsors cannot drive the cars for you. Please respect fellow drivers equipment, not only in AC but at all tracks. Take the time to thank him for this decision whether you see him at Motorsports or at AC. If anyone can be of help in parts or engine deliveries from either Motorsports or AC, please let us know and we will bring the items along. The shop will not be open at any time this weekend or next weekend due to the events scheduled.

For everyone looking to the Florida Winter Nationals and Slingerweeks II, the payout for the regular events at East Bay and Sumter Co. will be 250 to win for the regular events and $ 800 to win the Super National on Feb 13th at East Bay and $800 to win the National at Sumter Co on the 20th. The Grand Sleep Inn at Wildwood, FL is offering a $49 room rate when Sumter Co. Speedway is mentioned. Highly recommended by everyone that stayed there last year. Breakfast is worth the room price alone. 20 minutes from Sumter Co Motopark. This is a great way to get some early season National point races out of the way and still have a nice vacation as well.

New Jersey Motorsports Park has approved a 2 day weekend on August 14 -15 for a tri-oval event on the 14th and an early hour scheduled race on the 15th in conjunction with the ARCA 100 which will be the Pit Stop Challenge National on the road course. The timing of this event is to be completed so the teams can watch the scheduled ARCA event later in the day. The passes used for the Slingshots can be used for the ARCA race.

Hamlin will be having their annual rules meeting on Feb 28th at S&S Speedways. The 1st Slingshot event at Linda's for 2010 will be a $500 to win show. The new lighting and track prep have really done a lot in giving the race teams a sign of positive happenings at the Jonestown, PA oval. For anyone that missed the announcement at the banquet from Steve Heckman and Rich Raidline, the West End Fair Small Car Nationals will also be included as a Slingshot National for 2010 in addition to a MA Silver event. Team support and fan support were instrumental in the decision. Still looking for Slingshots to be displayed at the Reading Racing Reunion and the Flemington-Harmony Reunions. Myerstown, PA - Jan. 15th, 2010 (Issue 2):   Just got off the phone with Danny Sammons, the Raceceiver's are NOT mandatory, but for any Sammons promotion hereafter, they will be used at all events. Parking at AC will start Thurs night. Where you are parked is your spot for the rest of the weekend. State insp. and Rich tech inspections will be run as smoothly as possible. No fuel is allowed inside the Hall, all fuel will be dispensed outside. No liquid weight allowed other than your fuel and the oil in your engine. No weight allowed inside the bumpers or side rails (inside or outside). Weight must secure whether inside cockpit or on the tabs. No more than 30 lbs. allowed in the front. Random scaling is possible. Registrations can be taken care of and owners packets can be picked up at AC.

There will be $500 heading to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis as part of the Cody Kline National Champions Charity of Choice. I'm also preparing a $300.00 donation to the Dorritie & Fahey Scholarship Fund on behalf of 2009 Junior National Champion Matt Reiley. All contributions also state that it is with great pride from these drivers and also the entire Slingshot by Tobias Family. The remaining $11 are being used to purchase items for the Berks County Humane Society.

I want to personally thank each and everyone of you who made a contribution to this honorable act of kindness. Without your contributions and the thoughtfulness of the donators of the charity items this would not be possible. In the 3 years that we have taken on this ,we have sent out over $2,000 to 2 Scholarship Funds, the RAACE, St. Jude's and the Humane Society.

Just wanted everyone to know that the Slingerganza for $2000 to win is at Shellhammers. I didn't have the track listed with the story. Shellhammers will run a Junior Class weekly as long as 4 cars are entered, if not you have the option of running with the All Stars or have a 15 lap Feature (Heat & Feature combined)

Kutztown Fair Speedway is looking to give back to the race teams for it's August 19th National as they prepare to secure sponsorship and outside contributions to add to the purse, lap money and possibly heat winner money. Kutztown is one of the best attended races in regards to car counts and crew member support. Sponsor dollars will go a long way since this is during Fair Week and there are many casual fans in addition to the regular fans that could take advantage of what your sponsor has to offer. If anyone would like to help out, please get in touch with me. Anyone with Junior Class questions regarding Kutztown are asked to get in touch with Pete Knappenberger or Janelle Stump.

Seems like Flexfit seems to be the cap of choice. I might order some adjustable fit caps also for those who prefer the expanded room.

Anyone that needs engines or parts delivered to Motorsports or AC, please let me know so we can load everything up without forgetting your items.

The East Bay Super National on Feb 13th will have the added 30 points to each finishing position. Linda's Speedway has put together a very aggressive 2010 schedule for the Slingshots. Many special events with some added lap events will find the Slingshots very active on the Jonestown, PA 1/4 mile. Hamlin Speedway will be ready for another season of Junior, All Star and Super class racing in 2010 with the elimination of the kart classes it will be a great opportunity for many teams that were on the borderline due to the time restraints to visit Hamlin in 2010.

Walkill Slingshot Club will look to expand it's racing surface in 2010 with Sunday afternoons currently the way to go in an effort to get everyone in and out in a timely manner giving traveling teams the required time to return home in time for the rest needed to get to work on Monday morning. The addition of the Junior Class at Kutztown will be very dependant on the amount of entries received weekly. Please support this midweek venture and get the Juniors started out on the right foot in 2010. As soon as I get the complete tour schedule for Button Buck and the Sunshine Region you will know.

JANUARY RACERS SPECIAL, HERR'S SNACK BOWL UPDATE,

JUNIOR DIVISION NEWS, & MORE

 (Issue 1 / 01.07.10)

Myerstown, PA - Jan. 7th, 2010 (Issue 1):  The month of January will have the following special. Buy a new Slingshot engine and get a free Engine Plate along with the front and rear header pipes. Engines are available in standard, .010, .020 and .040 over. They will be built as the orders are received. A $1,000 down payment is required with balance due on delivery. Standard engine is $2078.49. Oversized are higher due to ring and piston price variances.

The Herr's Snack Bowl 25 on Jan 29,30th will be here soon. The entry list will be closing in a few days. Currently there are 21 entries for the Slingshot portion of the race. Make sure you meet the entry deadline so you will be included in the entry list. The troublesome 3rd and 4th turn has been restructured to give a more rounded turn and not a diamond shaped corner which will make the access into 3 and off of 4 a little less hectic. The Herr's Snack Bowl 25 will have an exclusive Trophy Cup for the winner as shown in the Slingshot website promo. The AC Indoor Classic will see the Slingshots qualify on Friday with the Herr's Snack Bowl 25 Saturday evening.

In an effort to give the Junior racers another track to hone their driving talents, it will be officially announced by Pete Knappenberger and Janelle Stump that Kutztown will feature the Juniors to the tune of possibly 3 times a month. There will be a weekly payout for the Juniors, weekly track points and also a season ending point fund is being looked into. Kutztown has been known to keep their programs moving along quickly and wanted all Junior teams to know that attitude will not change. They will not sacrifice quality for quantity. The recent Junior races run at Kutztown have been highly competitive events and they are looking for any Junior that's wants to give the tricky 1/5 mile a season of racing. Kutztown's website is www.kutztownfairspeedway.com if anyone would like to check it out. Age limit will be finalized ,but the current local track ages of anyone up to 15 will be looked at.

Since this announcement, it will be stated that the DunnHill2 Speedway will be the other Neutral Track event for the Juniors in 2010 with Reading being the second. If any of these 2 races get rained out we will be looking at possibly Shellhammers as the alternate neutral track with many of the Juniors enjoying the high-banked close racing on the 1/8th mile. DunnHill 2 will be July 11th with a 2 PM starting time and the back-to-back event with Wyalusing Valley MP on July 10th.
